Designer Marc Jacobs Got Married In A Style-Fuelled, Supermodel-Filled Affairby | April 09, 2019
Ah, we are such suckers for romance. Especially when it is fuelled with impeccable style. Is there any other kind? Saturday witnessed Marc Jacobs marry his partner Char Defrancesco in a stylish ceremony, and Instagram celebrated the fabulous nuptials along with the star-studded guest list.
The party saw everyone from ’90s supermodels Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell to ‘IT’ models Kaia Gerber and sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid, all three swathed in Marc Jacobs. The guest list also saw Emily Ratajkowski, Rita Ora, Rachel Zoe, and Katie Grand among others who brought their A-game to the glamorous landmark Manhattan restaurants that hosted the wedding and reception – The Grill and The Pool, the latter morphing into a disco as the night wore on.
While the A-listers put their best sartorial foot forward, the couple in question could not be upstaged when it came to style.
The newlyweds were both dressed in bespoke Huntsman Savile Row suits that were designed and cut by the talented Ralph Fitzgerald. Marc Jacobs accessorised his suit with a black Chanel 2.55 classic flap bag and custom Gucci boots designed by Alessandro Michele for the occasion. Michele in fact, sent the designer three pairs to choose from, and Jacobs shared an image of the boots on Instagram that was captioned, “Choices. A gurl always needs options.” Amen to that.
Jacobs who eventually went for the ivory boots and tie, lent finishing touches to his suit with a white Calla Lily on the lapel of his suit, ’60s David Webb enamel lion head cufflinks, and one half of the pair of Art Deco Diamond and Onyx Penguin pin that was gifted by Fabio Zambernardi, symbolising faithfulness and fidelity since penguins are known to mate for life. Jacobs reiterated that god is in fact, in the details.
Defrancesco on the other hand complemented his tailored suit with bespoke sneakers from Christian Louboutin. The sneaker is touted as the most expensive Louboutin sneakers and features three different kinds of exotic skins—suede crocodile, ostrich, and stingray. He wore the other penguin from the aforementioned set, and completed his look with an emerald green bow tie. The couple exchanged simple Cartier wedding bands and drove into the sunset (more like sunrise) in a swanky 1962 Rolls Royce Phantom.
Celebrities in attendance took to social media to share their favourite moments from the glitzy wedding with the hashtag #MarcAndCharsWedding. Naomi Campbell shared an image of the couple slicing an entirely white five-tiered wedding cake, while Gigi Hadid posted a behind-the-scenes image of Defrancesco and herself as they made a pit stop on the way to the wedding to grab some mini-burgers. The cool kids returned home with party favours that included a customised vape.
Here’s to celebrating love, style and lots of cake.
