The Multitasking Beauty Products Perfect For Women On-The-Goby | July 30, 2019
Remember that scene in Sex And The City when Carrie tells Big, “I don't wake up looking like this. I actually need stuff to look like this.” Stuff. Aka make-up. This was when she was lugging all of her belongings from her place to Mr.Big’s in a large tote.
Now, whether or not we have an elusive Mr.Big in our lives, we totally understand that in order to achieve a flawless ’gram-approved mug, we absolutely need our go-to products. Products that we cannot (and do not want to) always lug around, especially since micro bags have taken over our closets. The solution? To reduce the size of our beauty loot to just the bare essentials. And while that seems daunting, we have whittled down our must-haves to a few favourites that multitask and work overtime to give us the desired outcome. Not only does this reduce the size of our travel make-up bag by half, but also reduces our beauty budget by half: without compromise.
If you are a woman on-the-go that sometimes does her make-up in the backseat of a moving cab, then we have just the products for you that multitask seamlessly to give you beauty tutorial-esque make-up with just a dab here and a swipe there.
Lip and Cheek Tint
While you can achieve this with any lipstick tube, beauty brands have made it easier by creating cheek and lip tints that work hard to give you ruddy, flushed cheeks and a dewy kissable pout with just a hint of translucent tint.
Beauty Hack: If you prefer cream-based blush or liquid ones like Glossier’s Cloud Paint, then a lipstick doubled as blush could have a great effect. It blends into your skin seamlessly for a natural and dewy finish without looking cakey. It also lasts longer.
Clear Mascara As Brow Gel
Clear mascara may seem counterproductive. After all, we all want a dark and volumising mascara to pop those eyes open and to lend an appearance of fake lashes. But think again, because clear mascara has myriad uses. Not only can you use this on your lashes for instant lengthening, but you can also use this to brush your brows into shape and give them that killer arch.
Beauty Hack: You know those stray baby hairs that line your face? Tame them by brushing them in place with your clear mascara wand.
Lip Balms as Highlighter
Lip balms are a mainstay in our beauty arsenal and they help pucker our pout in a swipe. The next time you slather some balm on, dab a tad bit on your cheekbones as a highlighter for a dewy finish. You could also dab some onto your lids for a glossy and wet finish.
Beauty Hack: Dab some lipstick on your lids for colour and coat it with clear balm for gloss. We suggest balms sans tint for this or just good ol’ Vaseline.
Eyeshadow as Highlighter
Eyeshadows are a great contender for highlighters, and we definitely aren’t the first ones to have imagined this. Use your shimmery eyeshadow on your lids as well as your cheekbones for a hint of shine. While you cannot swipe every colour in the palette, sticking with gold, silver, and rose gold will give you the desired glow.
Beauty Hack: Dab the tiniest bit of eyeshadow on your lips too over some balm for the slightest shimmer. It’ll also lend you that monochrome look that’s in vogue right now.
Foundation and Contour Stick
Lucky are those blessed with great skin that can simply dab some lip and cheek colour to brighten their face. But a lot of us need a little more help to achieve flawless and radiant skin. And one way to achieve this is a foundation and contour stick. Use the foundation end of the product to apply all-over and blend it with your fingers or a brush, or just use it as a concealer on spots. You can use the contour stick on the other end to highlight your cheekbones and your jawline in one swift stroke. This one’s a space and money saver.
Beauty Hack: Apply a glow-boosting moisturiser as a base before dabbing on the foundation and contour stick for that healthy, supermodel glow.
If you have done backseat make-up on your way to dinner, you'll know that wet wipes comes in handy. One swipe and it takes all your make-up off while also hydrating and moisturising your skin, and preparing it for make-up. They also come in handy to erase those backseat bloopers aka mascara and lipstick accidents. You can also use them to clean that one multitasking brush in your travel pouch, or your trusty beauty blender.
