Style Edit: Ridhi Mehra Talks Fashion, Trends And The Top Labels On Her Radar

New collections that entice, an array of celebrity clients and a brand new flagship store that opened its doors to consumers at The Kila in New Delhi—Ridhi Mehra is on a roll. Having established a signature style of her own; her belted tunics and tiered shararas are synonymous with the designer, Mehra has garnered a lot of praise, but there is no stopping her yet.

We caught up with the ace designer to know the other side; her likes and dislikes in fashion and her thoughts on sought-after pop culture. Read on to know it all. 

Luxeva: How would you describe your personal style?

Ridhi Mehra: “In one word, I would say simple!”


Luxeva: According to you, which is the one trend that’s timeless?

Ridhi Mehra: “Not really a trend, but it would have to be sarees for me; nothing spells elegance like a saree.”

Luxeva: The one trend that you want to see fade out?

Ridhi Mehra: “Red lips. It’s not for me, and I can’t relate to it.”


Luxeva: The outfit or pairing you can never go wrong with?

Ridhi Mehra: “A white shirt with jeans and sneakers.”

Luxeva: Who, according to you, has a great personal style in the industry?

Ridhi Mehra: Shaleena Nathani— she is perfect!”

Luxeva: What’s your go-to brand for Indian couture?

Ridhi Mehra: “I wore Sabyasachi for my wedding and that’s one brand I really connect with, but it would be so difficult to pin down just oneAnita Dongre’s clothes are just so beautiful; Rohit Bal is the epitome of how classics and Indian embroidery work, so there are quite a few designers I admire.”

Luxeva: Three homegrown designers that are currently on your radar?

Ridhi Mehra: “The Right Sided by Harshita Agarwal. She is such a fun person. Also Dhruv Kapoorwhose work is amazing. On the jewellery front, it would have to be Prerto.”

Luxeva: Three international designers that everyone in India should definitely know about?

Ridhi Mehra: “My current favourite, without a doubt, is Zimmermann. Chanel is a timeless brand for me, especially for bags and the third would be Dior.”

Luxeva: Is there a change you’re seeing in the Indian fashion scape that you’re happy about?

Ridhi Mehra: “Oh, a lot. Back in the day, things were completely different. Now, people are willing to experiment in terms of new designs and younger designers. It’s that day and age when new things are being accepted in the industry.” 

Luxeva: If you could have dinner with anybody in the fashion world, who would it be? And why?

Ridhi Mehra: “Sabyasachi Mukherjee; I would love to take any advice that he has to offer!”


Luxeva: What’s the last thing you searched for on Google?

Ridhi Mehra: “The weather forecast for the day.”

Luxeva: What are you watching on Netflix/Amazon Prime etc. right now?

Ridhi Mehra: “The last thing I watched was the latest season of Stranger Things.”

Luxeva: What are you currently obsessed with?

Ridhi Mehra: “Sneakers!”

Luxeva: What’s the most stylish holiday you’ve ever been on?

Ridhi Mehra: “I recently went to the South of France, and it was amazing.”
